Angela Cumberland
Dr. Angela Cumberland is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Fulbright Future Scholar in the Program for Neurodevelopment in Health and Disease, at RMIT University. She received her PhD at the University of Newcastle in 2017. Her research interests are related to the role of pregnancy compromises, such as preterm birth, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and prenatal stress, on the production of neurosteroids in fetal life, perinatal neurodevelopment, and long-term behavioural outcomes. Angela’s current work investigates mechanisms by which these pregnancy complications alter brain development and increase the risk of developing neurological and mental health disorders later in life via the use of preclinical animal models, and MRI scans of preterm infants and children.
